Brain Training for Dogs: What the Course Includes and What to Check First
If you have a new puppy or a dog with a few bad habits, you have probably seen online courses that promise a lot. This post looks at one of them, Brain Training for Dogs (affiliate link), using only what the vendor says on its own pages. I say where I have not tested something.
What it is
Brain Training for Dogs is an online course created by Adrienne Farricelli, who the vendor describes as a CPDT-KA certified professional dog trainer. The vendor says it teaches basic skills and works on behavior issues such as potty training, pulling on the leash and jumping, using positive reinforcement rather than punishment.
What the vendor lists inside
- A puppy training section.
- Two online courses covering obedience and behavior.
- Over 100 articles on common behavior problems.
- A private forum where the creator takes part.
The vendor's home page also offers a free sample game, called The Airplane Game, so you can see the style before you decide. I have not tried it.
Who it might suit
- New puppy owners who want a structured place to start.
- Dog owners who prefer gentle, reward-based methods.
- People who like learning at their own pace rather than booking classes.
Who may want something else
- Anyone whose dog shows serious aggression or a sudden change in behavior. A vet or an in-person professional is the safer first step, and no online course replaces that.
- Anyone who wants hands-on feedback from a trainer who can watch the dog. A course and a forum are not the same as a live lesson.
- Anyone who is not ready to practice a little most days. Results depend on you and your dog.
What to check before you pay
- The current price and what it includes. I did not find a price or refund terms on the vendor pages I read, so look at the order page.
- The refund terms, in writing, before you buy.
- Whether the sections you care about, such as puppy training or leash manners, are in the version you are buying.
- Your own goals. Write down the two or three habits you most want to change and check them against the course outline.
My take
Based only on the vendor's own information, this looks like a reasonable option to look at if you want a self-paced, reward-based course and have a typical dog. It is a poor fit if you need urgent help with serious behavior or health concerns. If you want to see the details yourself, here is the vendor's page (affiliate link).
