How to Get a Refund on a ClickBank Purchase, Step by Step
Many online courses, ebooks and software tools are sold through ClickBank, a retailer for digital products. If you bought one and it is not what you expected, you can usually ask for your money back yourself, without waiting for the seller to answer an email. This guide explains how, using ClickBank's own help pages, read on October 19, 2026. Screens and button names change, so follow what you see on the site if it differs.
How to tell if you bought through ClickBank
ClickBank's support pages say a ClickBank purchase shows on your bank or card statement as "CLKBANK*", followed by more text that varies by bank. Your receipt email should also mention ClickBank and include an order number. Many sales pages say in the footer that ClickBank is the retailer.
If your statement shows a different company, this guide does not apply. Contact that company or the seller instead.
The refund window
ClickBank's return policy says it will, at its discretion, allow the return or replacement of any product within 60 days of the purchase date. Its refund help page says most products have a 60-day refund period. Some sellers offer different terms, so check the seller's own policy too.
Two details from the policy are worth knowing:
- If the refund period has passed, the refund option is not shown online. ClickBank says you then need to contact the seller directly, using the contact details in the Seller Information section of your order.
- Refunds only go back to the payment method you used. ClickBank's policy says that for a one-time purchase made with an account that has since been closed, a return cannot be issued, so do not close a card you used before a refund has come through.
What you need
- The email address you used to buy.
- One more detail: your order number from the receipt, the last four digits of the card or payment method, or your zip code.
How to request a refund
Based on ClickBank's help page for refunds:
- Go to clkbank.com, ClickBank's customer support site.
- Use the order lookup. Enter your email address and your order number, or the last four digits of your card, or your zip code.
- Find the order in the results and check that the details match.
- Choose the option to request a refund.
- Pick a reason from the list. If none fits, choose Other and explain briefly.
- Send the request.
Keep the confirmation. ClickBank says a confirmation email is sent to both the customer and the seller when the refund is processed.
How long it takes
ClickBank's article on its support ticket system says that for a digital product, a refund requested on the same day as the purchase is typically issued within about five minutes, and a later request within 24 hours. It also says sellers are encouraged to contact you to try to help first. They are not allowed to change your refund request into a different type of ticket without your consent. After the refund is issued, your bank or card company may take longer to show it.
For physical products, the timing depends on whether the order has shipped.
If you paid with PayPal
ClickBank's help page says that if you paid through PayPal, you can request a refund either through clkbank.com or through PayPal. If a refund fails, ClickBank says it tells the seller and directs you to contact the seller, and suggests contacting PayPal if the seller does not respond.
Subscriptions: refund vs cancel
These are two different things.
- Cancelling stops future payments. ClickBank's help page on subscriptions describes the same order lookup, then asking for support on that order and choosing a cancellation request. It says the cancellation is completed within one business day.
- A refund on a subscription is different. ClickBank's policy says that for recurring products, the most recent payment is returned, and the subscription is cancelled at the same time. Refunds of more than one payment may be possible within the seller's return policy and the 60-day window.
If you want both, the refund request also cancels the subscription, according to ClickBank. If you only want to stop future charges and keep using what you have paid for, cancel instead.
If something goes wrong
- Check the basics. Make sure you used the same email as the purchase, and that you are within the refund window.
- Contact ClickBank's support. Its customer support site also lists other ways to reach its support team.
- Contact the seller. Their details are in the Seller Information section of your order.
- As a last resort, dispute the charge. The FTC explains that, under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can dispute certain credit card billing errors, such as charges for things that were not delivered as agreed. Your letter must reach the card issuer within 60 days after the first bill with the error was sent. Try the refund process first and keep records.
Before your next purchase
The easiest refund is the one you plan for. Save the receipt, note the date 60 days after you buy, and use the product properly in the first week or two. Our checklist on how to tell if an online course or ebook is legit covers what to check before you pay.
